Zurich
Zurich, Switzerland’s largest city, gracefully balances modern Swiss sensibilities with its storied past. Often hailed as one of the most liveable and attractive cities in the world, Zurich is filled with a diverse array of charming architecture built throughout history, a relaxing yet lively lakefront promenade, and an opulent ambience evident in its world-class dining and museums. From its church spires to its chocolatiers or simply the view of the Alps across the lake, Zurich is not to be missed.
Gstaad
This upscale resort town in the Bernese Alps is a winter sports paradise with over 120 miles of ski slopes and several snowparks. During the summer, hike or mountain bike along miles of trails, canoe or kayak on the River Saane, hit the links for a round of golf, or even go cross-country skiing at the Glacier 3000 ski region. For those looking for the slower side of Switzerland, visit the nearby villages where the authentic Swiss culture shines.
Interlaken
The adventure capital of Switzerland, snugly located between the glacial lakes of Lake Thun and Lake Brienz. Interlaken is blessed with gorgeous mountain vistas in all directions, without actually being in the mountains. In winter, Interlaken is the gateway to Jungfraujoch and world-class skiing; in summer, Interlaken is a great base for hiking and kayaking.
Jungfraujoch
Known as the Top of Europe, an expedition to Jungfraujoch is a quintessentially Swiss adventure. From the top, completely engulfed in the snow and ice, the views of the Bernese Alps and beyond are unforgettable. Jungfraujoch continues to attract visitors every year and continues to leave intrepid explorers speechless.
Basel
Straddling both banks of the Rhine River — in the corner where Switzerland, France, and Germany meet — the elegant city of Basel shines on its own. With a strong sense of its own identity, Basel has become known as one of the world’s premiere cities of culture, home to almost 40 museums, various symphonies and performing artists, and the world’s most renowned art fair — Art Basel.
Ticino Region
Situated on Switzerland’s southern border with Italy, Ticino has a distinctly Italian flair that is exemplified in the palm trees and beaches that sit below the majestic Alps. Graced with gorgeous mountains as well postcard-perfect cities, Ticino is a romantic blend of Italy and Switzerland that is sure to take your breath away.
Lugano
Surrounded by mountains and on the shore of Lake Lugano, this city is famous for its art museums and architecture, the almost Mediterranean-climate, and its breezy lakeside promenades where sub-tropical plants sit side-by-side with modern art installations. Lugano is an ideal place to relax, enjoy some gelato, and take a leisurely stroll in its historic city center.
Locarno
Known as the city of flowers, Locarno sits on the shore of Lake Maggiore is home to a music and film festival, a medieval castle, and the landmark Sanctuary of Madonna del Sasso church overlooking the town. This beautiful city is ripe with subtropical plants and colorful petals throughout the city, especially within the lakefront Camellia Park.
Ascona
With a quaint Renaissance-era old town, a modern art museum, and a charming lakeside promenade, Locarno’s understated neighbor is equally attractive. Visit the nearby botanical gardens on Brissago Island or check out the popular trails on Monte Verità nearby to get a view of the city and the lake from above.
Geneva
Lying at the southern tip of Lac Léman (Lake Geneva), Switzerland’s second most-populous city, Geneva, is a modern gem amongst its Alpine backdrop. It has earned an international reputation as the World Trade Organization, the World Health Organization, the Red Cross, and the World Bank are all headquartered here. A variety of experiences await in Geneva, from luxury shopping along the rue du Rhône to leisurely walks along the lake to exploring the countless museums and exhibits scattered throughout the city.
Lausanne
Surrounded by vineyards and situated across from Lake Geneva, Lausanne is an idyllic city spread across three hilltops. Known as the “Olympic capital”, Lausanne is home to the International Olympic Committee and the Olympic park and museum are must-sees during your stay. While the city’s historic buildings and medieval shops may be what initially attracts people, Lausanne’s lively nightlife and regional cuisine are what will capture your heart.
Montreux
Optimally positioned on Lake Geneva, Montreux, Switzerland’s stunning resort town, boasts a Mediterranean climate and proximity to the prominent Lavaux Vineyards. The city breathes music — it is home to a statue of Freddie Mercury, who lived here during his final years, and for jazz lovers, Montreux hosts a yearly jazz festival that draws visitors from far and wide. Valais
Valais is a canton in southern Switzerland filled with stunning, wild nature. The region is also home to Leukerbad, the largest thermal bath and wellness resort in the Alps and the Aletsch Arena, the longest glacier in the Alps. Saas Fee
